Hi all,

I'm thinking about becoming a mompreneur but I feel quite confused about what kind of job I could from home . I look for something motivating, something I have skills for, something which can bring some money ...

My fear is to invest energy in something that has lot of probabilities of not progressing form some of the above reasons ... :(

What do you suggest me in order to find what kind of business could be fine ?
When you started your business, were you clear about your motivation?

Thanks in advance for your advices!

You not only have to be motivated but you have to want to be a business owner. It's one thing to do whatever it is that you do for money. It's quite another to handle all the work involved in having a business: taxes, sales, marketing, advertising, networking, etc.

Don't let the hard work, however, stop you from pursuing a business.
It's important for you to take it slowly so you don't end up investing a lot of money in something you didn't understand completely. Do a lot of reading and studying.

Do you have the time and energy? Do you have a good understanding of your abilities: strengths and weaknesses?

Dear Frijolita,

What are you passionate about? What strengths do you have? If you don't like kids, an in home day care would be out... see where I am going here?

I have a friend who is a wiz at microsoft products... she pursued starting up as a Virtual Assistant. She charges $50 per hour, but because she is dedicated for that hour, you get exactly what you are paying her for.

Another friend loves technical writing, so she started freelancing technical writing on the side.

Think about what you love and then think about how you can turn that into something you can do from home.

There are a lot of scams out there, so don't forget to research, research, research!

Good luck!
Jenifer

Hi frijolita! Being a business woman is challenging and being a mom at the same time while you handle your business is indeed tougher since you will be experiencing some destruction at home hence; I suggest you start knowing what you are passionate about while you do some online jobs. Try odesk and elance and see what skills you could offer. Who knows the business you wanted to pursue might be creating your own online bookkeeping or virtual assistance company.
