We had our baby girl, Edelweiss Olivia, on December 24, 2009. She weighed 8 pounds and measured 20" long. She is absolutely perfect in every way and we adore her. As many of you know, we intended to have Edelweiss at home but she was delivered via c-section due to a surprise breech presentation. She entered the world hiney first, causing the OR nurse to exclaim, “She is definitely a girl!” before she was even born.
We have waited a long time to meet this precious girl. We chose her name, Edelweiss, because it represents her journey to us.
The Legend of the Edelweiss
According to Alpine folklore, suitors proved their love by climbing high crags of the perilous Alps in search of the mountain flower, Edelweiss. Tragically, many fell to their death or died of exposure to the weather. Therefore, a bouquet of Edelweiss was considered evidence of deep devotion and bravery. The Edelweiss is still revered today as a symbol of love, endurance, and dedication.
Edelweiss is the sweetest baby and her brothers are madly in love with her. She smiles frequently in her sleep and has laughed out loud in her dreams several times. We think she is as happy to finally be with us as we are to finally hold her in our arms. She is all we dreamed of and so much more.
I do miss "the biz" sometimes and I keep up with many of you via Facebook and Twitter. I wish you all a prosperous, successful new year!

Just seeing this, a warmer congratulations! My little girls were born Dec 22 and 23rd- so I know how magical it must have felt for her to arrive right in time to be a little gift for the family!
